anybody running SATA drives using RAID 0? i was just curious of any noticeable performance increases you may have noticed making the switch. im experiencing hard drive lad whilst loading anything ingame and anything that puts heavy loads on my drive outside of the game. i could just replace it with the same drive... buy a brand new one and it will make a huge diffrence, but im looking for some real use imput from anybody that might be running RAID 0 |

i have raid 0 - both drives are 320gb size same brand.
it really is super fast no lag what so ever. make sure they're both the same drive (size, brand, model). and do a disk scan. |

raid 0 is strip as well but it is spreading the data across 2 drives....
which increases speed cuz u have less data for each drive to load.
so that means my data space is 640gb
1 drive goes bad and u need to get data recovery service from a company.
and it costs a crap load. like $2k (i know cuz i had to get it done once)
raid 1 is mirroring which is more of a data protection. which means you are using only 320gb. u can recover the data if one drive goes bad. |

yah im not worried about losing my data, im out for performance. this is pretty much a just for gaming computer anyway. if i really wanted to save some data i would just put it on a cd. tho nothing is 100%, even CD's can go bad over time. hmm, i wonder if i could run 4 sata drives and mirror the striped drives. if there even is such a thing. |

ive got 2 on board raid devices for SATA, one from VIA and one from fastrack or something. i think it is possible to do a stripe mode on one set and then do a mirror mode on the second set. |
